A Portable Laundry Backpack
Now you can clean your clothes, even jeans, anywhere. Ashley Newland, a developer, made a creative laundry-machine backpack called the Scrubba Wash Pack. It is a backpack and portable clothes washer at the same time. It does not need electricity, just a little water and detergent.
In 2010, Newland thought of this when he planned to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. He realized that there were no place to wash all his clothes. By 2012, his invention was sold as the world’s smallest washing machine.
The backpack is made from waterproof polyurethane. It holds 13-liters of water, weighs 180 g, and costs about W55,000. To clean your clothes, put them inside along with three liters of water and detergent. Squeeze out all the air and shake the pack for a few minutes. Finally, rinse the clothes.
Newland plans to release a new foldable wash pack that weighs 300 g later this year.
